Autumn Pool Maintenance

Autumn is here and winter is approaching. Dannys Pools wants to go over some pool maintenance tips for you this season.

It’s that time of year again where we are slowly drifting away from the warmer months and the cooler months are approaching, which means our lovely pools are needing to get ready for winter. Here at Danny’s Pools, we’re going to go through some tips for maintaining your pool during this autumn season.

Preparation is Key

The key to successful maintenance for this season is preparing your pool for the cooler months approaching in winter. If you are currently barely using it, then you are essentially making it ready for its hibernation period.

The first thing you have to get started with when it comes to pool maintenance is testing your water for any mineral or pH imbalances so that you can treat any problems with the right chemicals early on. You will find that this is essential for getting your pool ready for winter, as any issues untreated in the winter months will cause more problems.

Because of the infrequent use, your pool is now getting, your pool water does not need to be continuously filtered and circulated as much as it does during the height of summer. You should only be needing to run your pump and filter between four to eight hours a day during these cooler months. Another great thing about the not so frequent use by the family is that you will find you need fewer pool chemicals during autumn and winter!

Although you do not need to spend the same amount of time maintaining your pool as you did in the summer months, it is still essential to check your pool water chemistry every week to make sure you can catch any potential problems before they become something serious. Doing regular doses of sanitizer are also crucial.

POOL EQUIPMENT PERTH

One of the best things you can do for you and your pool is to invest in a good quality pool cover can save you a lot of maintenance all year round. But this will be a life saver for this Autumn season. This will provide a barrier between the water and surrounding environment, so it will save you hours upon hours of having to manually get those nasty leaves and twigs out of the water.

If you want to start completely fresh for each season we approach, you can consider doing a shock treatment for your pool. Shocking is practically doing a larger dose of sanitizer than normal. It can be very helpful for pools that seem prone to low levels of chlorine or other problems like algae blooms or cloudy water.

Autumn can be known for its potentially stormy and wet weather. So it is a wise thing to make sure that all pool toys are removed from the water and put in a secure place such as a pool shed. Inspect pool furniture to ensure it is sturdy and unable to be blown away if the wind were to pick up. Remove or repair any loose pavement surrounding the pool to preventing cracks to the structure of the pool. Lock pool gates properly and pool sheds where all your chemicals are placed.

Danny hopes this helps you with all of your autumn pool maintenance. If you wish to seek Danny’s services to make sure that your pool will remain in perfect condition all year round, be sure to give Danny a call today.
